Day #76

On gossamer wings
 The Blue Grosbeak flits about
Breathtaking beauty!

What a sight today... a field covered with Blue Grosbeaks flitting
and hoping about... I have always loved the bluebird, but nothing
and no bird have I seen with this incredible blue, especially the delicacy
of the blue when the bird is on the wing.

A diff'rent, new day!
Bright sun, wintery snowcaps
The storm went right by!

This is what the day produced...

Day 74...

The weather is odd
Definitely cold outside
Blooms holding their breath!

Below temperatures... 43 outside as I write.. 38 for the low,
high will be 60.... 15 degrees below normal... but Thursday will be 75
and 80 on Saturday... Crazy!

Day 73...sad

It has not been good
As far as news and views go
Pride and prejudice

My friend lost her mother today... that makes this a sad day...
then differences in opinion tend to paint one in a dark corner,
Whatever happened to decency.....

Snow on the mountains
A blue sky so blue it hurts
Beauty beyond compare!


I don't like the cold weather, but the snow on the mountains is an awsome sight... if I get some photos, I will post it to this day... and there is so more more to come... bitter and sweet?

Out of the clear blue
Telephone invite for dinner
Friends.. a true delight!

A wonderful dinner with friends whom we haven't seen in over a year...
it was like we hadn't missed a day...

Day... 69....

Focused...all day long
Learning is no so easy
When the hair is gray!

Struggling through an art class... and not really winning the'battle'.
It has been a tough day.

Day 68..

Star-watching is fun
Not as good as the food tho'
Daughters loving gift...

tonight my beloved and I dined at a local 'Star-spot'... a dining spot off the
beaten path, yet in downtown Palm springs. Many probably know Barry Manilow, Suzanne Sommers, Alice Cooper.. to name a few live here in the desert.. as well as surviving spouses of famous people...Delores Hope... and they have their hangouts... this being one of them. It is a unique spot, as is Palm Springs itself.. and this week is Modernism week... a salute to the architects that made Palm springs the interesting place it is. Modernism? Mid 50's to 60's.. roof lines being the draw in residential communities. Downtown? many interesting architecturally designed buildings... only to be seen here. So the restaurant was hopping!! Frank Sinatra used to sing here.. June Allyson stayed... Cher comes often...
All this .... a gift from our daughter! She was determined we would dine here at least once while we are on the desert! Bless her heart.. she is a delight! did I say she is precious? She is!....

Day # 67..

Rain is pushing back...
Snow... higher elevations
Winter storm warning!

Yes... we have winter storms coming through, heavy rain... high winds... awesome snow in the mountains... hint... best viewed through a window...preferably the living room window.
You guessed it, I am not a fan of snow. Right now it is absolutely pouring rain and wouldn't you know it?? The Date Festival opened yesterday, Modernism Week started today.. the Palm springs Outdoor Art Festival opened this morning... alllllllll in the rain!! Did I say it is cold?? Yeah! It is cold!

Bright! wow..just the moon
Flitting clouds are racing by

Today.... buzzing bees
Tomorrow.. small fruit forming
Next to be seen------------Fruit!

the Kumquat tree is an amazing tree in that it can have blooms, which do come enmasse

I had a wonderful afternoon today, spending time with my friend Louise, a wonderful
fiber artist. She is amazing,,, and so is her work. I am so inspired! Being a visual learner,
my appetie is in high gear....

Is it subjective? or clear?
Color matters more...

How often do you really look at color? As in 'really'? Is it grayed?
Is it clear... as in even translucent? Why do you like color? What
does it do for you? to you?... hmmmm....

Optomistic? Yes!

How could this happen?

Today... another surprise....
totally unexpected...my husbands eyesight has improved slightly,
but another small bleed means another shot in the eye... ouch!

Day 51

Peeking through the frost
Tender shoots normal of spring
Solid, rock hard... killed!

Two nights of icy cold stopping new growth in its tracks, destroying hopes for a crop. Amazing what the weather is doing around the world. Here, in palm Springs, this icy cold dropped our temperatures by 20F for a daytime high... warmer tomorrow and can you believe 79 on Sunday and 80 on Monday... yet the damage is done!

Just the two of us
The time is right, reflection...

Quiet lingering
Clutching, hugging the moments
close, for memories...

Tomorrow my dear and precious daughter will return to her home and it will be the memories that remain... a keepsake.
